Wellington Shire Council operates outdoor seasonal swimming pools in Heyfield, Maffra, Rosedale, Sale, Stratford, and Yarram. Outdoor pools and operate daily with a 25 degree temperature trigger, advised by the Bureau of Meteorology Sale forecast at 4pm on the day before.

Outdoor pool operating hours

The 2022-23 outdoor pool season officially commences on Saturday 26 November 2022 and includes peak and off peak seasons. Please see below breakdown for the 2022-23 season:

‍Off peak: 25 Nov - 16 Dec 2022: Weekdays: 4.00pm - 7.30pm, Weekends/Public Holidays: 10.30am - 6pm.

Peak: 17 Dec 2022 - 29 Jan 2023: Weekdays: 11am - 7.30pm, Weekends/Public Holidays: 10.30am - 6pm.

NOTE: Pools will be open 12pm - 3pm every day during peak season regardless of the temp and forecast.

Off peak: 30 Jan - 13 Mar 2023: Weekdays: 4.00pm - 7.30pm, Weekends/Public Holidays: 10.30am - 6pm.

General public swimming times for the 2022-23 season will operate in accordance with a temperature forecast trigger.

All outdoor pools will open when the temperature forecast for Sale, as issued by the Bureau of Meteorology at 4pm on the previous day, is for 25°C or higher.

Lap swimming is available at Maffra, Sale and Yarram outdoor pools between 6am - 8am Monday to Friday (Public holidays excluded) and are NOT temperature dependent.  These sessions will operate regardless of the temperature forecast or temperature trigger.

The summer swim season will conclude at close of business on Monday 13 March 2023.

All Summer Season passes can be used at any Wellington Shire Council pool, including indoor at Aqua Energy.

Important information

• All outdoor pools will be closed on Christmas Day (25 December 202)
• No entry is permitted 15 minutes before closing time at any outdoor swimming pool
• For reasons of safety, pools will close if thunderstorms are in the vicinity

Watch around Water guidelines

• All Wellington swimming pools are Watch Around Water pools
• Children under 5 years must be within arm’s reach of a responsible person 16yrs or older at all times
• Children 10 years and under must be under the constant visual supervision of a responsible adult 16yrs or older
• Unsupervised children will not be permitted to remain in the water.
